Michael A. Smigocki, CPA, CVA, ABV

 

 

Experience Highlights:

 

Mr. Smigocki is the Senior Managing Director of Federal Strategies Group, LLC.  He is formerly the National Managing Director of the Government Contractor practice for American Express Tax & Business Services, the 9th largest accounting firm in the U.S.  In his 20+ years of experience in the government contracting industry, he has performed a wide variety of management consulting, accounting, tax, regulatory consulting as well as litigation support and expert testimony engagements.  Some of these services include:

 

•           Design of shareholder value maximization programs.

•           Buy-side and sell-side representation services

•           Business valuations including litigation matters concerning valuations.

•           Structuring of teaming arrangements

•           Design and implementation of policies and procedures

•           Indirect rate development and optimization

 Form 1 matters

 

•           Design and implementation of compliance programs

•           Fraud investigations

•           Bid protest support services

•           Damage modeling and analysis in breach of contract matters

Mr. Smigocki is a graduate with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland.  He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of CPAs, the American Bar Association including its Cost, Price & Analysis Committee, the National Contract Management Association and the Institute of Management Accountants.  He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst.

 

Mr. Smigocki is a frequent national lecturer and has authored numerous articles on issues pertaining to the government contracting industry.  He is one of the founders of the non-profit organization SECAF (Small & Emerging Contractor Advisory Forum), a group devoted to assisting small and emerging contractors succeed in the federal marketplace.  He is also a Senior Mentor in the MBA program of the Smith Business School of the University of Maryland, and a former Adjunct Professor with Montgomery College.  

 

 

Charles P. Abod, II, CPA

 

 

Experience Highlights:

Mr. Abod is a Senior Managing Director with Federal Strategies Group, LLC.  With over twenty years of experience, Mr. Abod has been instrumental in assisting his clients with establishing systems of internal accounting control and financial reporting processes that have enabled sustained growth, regulatory compliance and profit maximization for these companies.

Mr. Abod works closely with his clients to provide a full range of accounting and consulting services, from full-time outsourced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) services for publicly- traded companies, to outsourced project management services for a multinational government contractor.

  

Mr. Abod was formerly the Vice President of Finance and Administration for two technology firms as well as the Controller for a venture capital company with multiple subsidiaries, including two that were government contractors.  He was also an Audit Supervising Senior for Touche Ross & Co., (currently Deloitte & Touche) a “Big Four” national accounting firm.

  

Mr. Abod is a member in good standing of the America Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Tax Practice Section of the AICPA, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Society of Accountants, and the National Society of Tax Professionals.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Accounting and Finance from the University of Maryland.  He is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in the States of Maryland and Florida.
